Mom to a teenage.... BOY

I can tell you everything you want to know about raising a girl.
And I assure you that I can tell you NOTHING about raising a boy.

(Before I go on, let me clarify that I know there are grammarians who would say, "you raise corn, not children", and to that I say in my best Texas twang--"Well where I come from we raise children too.... so you can just hush.")  Were you able to hear how almost all of the words had an extra long drawn out syllable?! :-)

Ok, back to the topic at hand!

On August 1st my our nephew, Michael, will fly to Denmark....where he will stay for  4.5 months.....WITH US! :-) Luckily Michael is 16, so I don't think I need to know TOO much about "raising" a boy! I have a feeling he is just about RAISED already.....

We are so excited to have him here with us and cannot wait to show him as many things as possible in Denmark and Europe!

I wish all American high school students were encouraged to do what Michael is doing because there is something so powerful about living within another culture; something I wish I had experienced before I was 38 years old!

We are so ready for this adventure! So bring on the BOY!

We have a saying here about the aunt/uncle from America, so how cool is it that you are the American aunt in Denmark? :)

How cool is that? What a lucky guy! And he seems like quite a cutie, so I'm thinking all the teenage Danish girls around are going to be pretty lucky too :)

How exciting!

Is he going to try and learn Danish too, or going to an international high school while he's living with you?

He will go to the IB Gymnasium just 10 min from our house where he will go to school with both Danes and internationals...and this will allow him to take his credits back and use in Colorado...

and yes of COURSE he will learn some Danish! :-)

Growing up with a brother I will warn you that they smell and eat alot!! So you will have tons a opportunities to spoil him with your cooking. You may want to guard the from step from all the girls who will flock around him. LOL!!
