An Expat Christmas

When I was a little girl, I would wish for things like Barbies and bicycles for Christmas.
Now that I am an All Grown Up Expat, I wish for other things..... Things that may seem silly to other folks, but to us expats, they are the MOST INCREDIBLE THINGS.

Mads and I received a box of Expat Christmas goodies yesterday all the way from Missouri! And although we have not opened them yet (yeah, we will see how long THAT self-control lasts!), I have a feeling that there are some things in there that are going to MAKE MY DAY!!!!  Especially because I know that Lisa and John, the incredible friends who sent this box to us KNOW the kinds of things that put a smile on our faces!!!!

But even MORE cool than the stuff IN the packages (well, EQUALLY as cool) is the fact that my friend, Lisa, whom I have only officially met once when she and John came to see us this summer on their Euro-trek, KNOWS enough about us to know that things that make me smile and that she took the time to go and buy those things, wrap them, and ship them to us all the way in Herning, Denmark......

I cannot wait to get home and tear open those packages!!! And then to THREATEN Mads that he better save some for me for when I get home next week! :-)

LISA NEIMAN, as a Christmas Elf, YOU ROCK!

Those are the BEST presents when abroad. Esp the candy corn, YUM!!! :) We usually ask for Twizzlers, Reese Peanut Butter cups, I order A&W and Diet Dr. Pepper online, and usually get a few English mags (they cost a flippin 10 euro here, if not more). It is the little things in life, right?!

I read this post with excitement for you and with guilt for myself, for not being a better friend...although I seriously doubt I have more American things here in Norway then you have in Denmark...I should be better about nurturing our friendship which I value more then you know...I just suck at that kind of thing though...to be completely blunt and honest...but even though it´s not a box of goodies, you´re often in my mind...if that counts for something ;-) And oh, there is a tinge of jealousy also...I want friends in America who send me care packages with lots of American goodies....anyone interested??? ;-) Hahahaha.....

Thanks Kelli. I blame it on the Girls Scout/expat part of me. Plus you forgot to mention all of the great things you did for us!.

And playing elf is fantastic no matter how small or large!
