Fødselsdage i Danmark ... Birthdays in Denmark

Christmas is my favorite time of the year, but my favorite holiday is a birthday. Birthdays have always been very important in my family and I am so happy that I live in a country that celebrates birthdays in a big way!

A new birthday-tradition for me is: "You always say Congratulations to the family of the birthday person." I could not ever remember to tell the family before, but with each birthday I celebrate in Denmark, I remember a little more...

Yesterday was my friend, Monica´s birthday, and Mads and I are thankful we had the opportunity to celebrate Monica with her family... both her "old family" and her "new family". Monica moved to Denmark with her three kiddoes a month after I moved here, and we quickly became great friends! The table was filled last night with people who love Monica as a wife, a mom, a stepmom and a friend. It was a sweet and cozy night in Jutland!

Monica and I have many many things in common--such as our love of Mexican food, good books, good beer, chick flicks, and husbands who do the dishes!!

Many thanks to the Hassing family for us getting to share the evening with you!

Looks like a great night with friends. I am so thankful that you have found a friend that is located close to you - I'm glad Nicole & Michael are there, but you can't see her on a regular basis. I have a guy who does dishes and it is a real "turn on." hee hee Not what you want to hear from your mom.
