Nørgaard familie i Djursland ... Nørgaard family in Djursland

Every year the Nørgaards rent a summerhouse and everyone meets for a few days together as a family. This year we met in Djursland, a region located in East Jutland. We had many things to celebrate as a family--Kasper´s first birthday (Aug 28), Taimi´s birthday (Sept 1) and Frederikke´s confirmation. It was a DELIGHTFUL WEEKEND and I realized again how thankful I am to have a family like this here in Denmark when my own family is so many miles away. Before I moved, Taimi promised my mom the family would take care of me in Denmark, and they are!

Our three days together were so incredibly fun---with good food, lots of laughter, adventures around Djursland and family games! (and of course, my brain working overtime to understand Danish!)

Dage 1 Billeder ... Day 1 Photos

Kasper er klar til hans fødselsdag kage! Kasper is ready for his birthday cake!

Emma plays a game with Farfar. (In Denmark a grandchild calls his dad´s dad "farfar" and his dad´s mom "farmor". He calls his mom´s mom "Mormor" and his mom´s dad "Morfar", so Thomas is "farfar" to Emma, but "morfar" to Rebecca!

Familie tur efter aftensmad at udforske ... Family walk after dinner to explore

Thomas og Emma

Albert går hvor Emma går! Albert goes where Emma goes!

LOL
Thomas does not understand why we cannot run as fast as he can! But he has a NEW HEART from last summer and we all have old, tired hearts! LOL

Dage 2 og 3 billeder kommer snart! .... Day 2 and 3 pictures coming soon!

What a fun and special weekend to hang out with the family. I think it's really cool too because it gives them all a chance to get to know you a little better too!

Wow...that is so great that the Danish language has distinguishing words for grandparents on either side. That's much easier than always saying, "my grandmother, on my mother's side...my grandfather, on my father's side, etc."
