Hygge til mig ... Cosiness to me

As Albert and I walk through Herning each day, I always bring the camera. Sometimes I don´t take any pictures and other days, I take many, but I am ALWAYS ready, just in case. Something I love to look at while we walk are the houses in Herning because Danish houses are VERY different from houses in Texas and there are no two houses alike.

Nyde...

People always use the word "cosiness" when talking about Denmark... cozy dinners with friends, cozy forests, cozy drives on country roads and my favorite--cozy houses. I love our house because I think Mads and I have made it a place where people feel welcomed and "at home" when they are here. Our house is very cozy on the inside, where it the most important! However, while Albert and I walk, I am collecting pictures of Herning houses which are my faves and that I think are "hyggelige" on the outside. Enjoy...

Mit FAVORIT hus i Herning...Jeg ønsker I kunne se flotte vinduerne nærbillede!
My FAVORITE house in Herning...I wish y´all could see the beautiful windows up close!

I noticed all the homes have steep sloping roofs -- I am thinking perhaps to avoid water/ snow accumulation?

Does it hail in DK? I just had to replace my shingled roof b/c of hail last winter and it was only 4 yrs. old. Argh.

What are roofs commonly made from in DK?
